No day gets off to a better start than by enjoying a Cove breakfast. In the morning the tables are set and the bar is laid out with a selection of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt and fruit juice for guests to help themselves. At the same time you will be asked if you would like tea or coffee to drink along with a cooked breakfast that can consist of Full English ( sausage, bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes and toast), scrambled egg, beans on toast, bacon butties etc. Our bacon, sausages and eggs are all from the local area. Breakfast is served between 8.30am and 9.00am. If guests require an early start arrangements can be made for a lighter breakfast. |
Whether on foot, bike or by car, not only are we just a few minutes level walk to the safe sandy beach, but Pentewan is centrally placed to base yourselves and explore both North and South, East and West coasts or to stay near but not with close friends or family that are staying on Pentewan Sands Camp Site. For those guests that arrive by train to St.Austell railway/bus station, a short taxi ride will bring you into the village. Once in Pentewan bikes can be hired from Ocean Sports, if required, to explore the area or buses link Pentewan with St.Austell and Mevagissey. However the village is well served having a local pub ‘The Ship Inn’, ‘The School House’ restaurant, church with a 9am Sunday service (bell sounds the start), Post Office situated at the local garage/general store. The South West Coast path runs through the village as well as the ‘Pentewan Way’ cycle trail. It’s only 1 mile to the fishing village of Mevagissey, from where you can catch the Mevagissey/Fowey ferry which is a popular way to not only get to Daphne Du Maurier’s Fowey but you also get to see a different view of our splendid coast line. We are but 1.5 miles away from the popular ‘Lost Gardens of Heligan’ and 7 miles from the internationally renowned ‘Eden Project’. The historical port of Charlestown ( popular with film crews with credentials of ‘The Eagle has landed’, ‘Hornblower’, ‘The Three Musketeers’ to name but a few and the base of ‘Square Sail’ ships) is some 3 miles distance or a 2-3 hour walk along the coastal path. The popular villages such as Looe and Polperro are just the other side of Fowey. The county’s capital ‘Truro’ (where the river trickles along the sides of the streets) is not far and beyond that the port of Falmouth, Penzance and St.Ives.
